Shannon Edmonds is the Director of Governmental Relations for the Texas District and County Attorneys Association (TDCAA), the largest statewide association of prosecutors in the nation. Mr. Edmonds serves as a liaison between prosecutors and the Texas Legislature on criminal justice, juvenile justice, and government representation issues. Upon the conclusion of each legislative session, he authors TDCAA’s popular Legislative Update book, a comprehensive analysis of legislative changes that affect the Texas criminal justice system. Between legislative sessions, Mr. Edmonds provides training, education, and assistance to members of TDCAA and other legal and law enforcement entities. He has also written articles and given presentations on the legislative process and a variety of other legal topics, including capital punishment, prosecutorial ethics, DWI law, child abuse, gambling, and mental health issues.
Mr. Edmonds has degrees from the University of Texas and the University of Texas School of Law. He was a prosecutor in Travis County, Texas, from 1993 to 2000. He then served as an assistant general counsel to Governor George W. Bush and as a policy advisor to Lt. Governor Bill Ratliff before joining TDCAA in 2002, where he has worked for the past seven legislative sessions.
Mr. Edmonds lives in Austin with his wife, Meaghan Edmonds, PhD, and their four children.
